Ciprofloxacin 500 mg present in CipRox-500, is used to treat or present certain infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia, gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted Disease); typhoid fever (a serious infection that is common in developing countries); infectious diarrhea etc. CipRox-500 comes with a tablet that should be taken. Orally as directed by your Physician.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication and transcription.
  • By disrupting these processes, ciprofloxacin prevents the growth and reproduction of bacteria, leading to their elimination.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  • Take CIPROX–500 tablets orally with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • The usual dosage is one tablet every 12 hours for a specified duration, typically ranging from 7 to 14 days depending on the infection being treated.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water; do not crush or chew the tablet.
  • Maintain adequate hydration by drinking plenty of fluids while on this medication. 

SIDE EFFECTS:

  • Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness.
  • Serious: Severe allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), tendon rupture, severe gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., persistent diarrhea with blood or mucus), and central nervous system effects (e.g., seizures, confusion).

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any severe side effects. 

WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS:

  • Contraindications: CIPROX–500 is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, other fluoroquinolones, or any components of the formulation. It should be avoided in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use.
  • Consultation: Inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements. Discuss any history of kidney disease, tendon disorders, or central nervous system disorders with your healthcare provider.
  • Interactions: Ciprofloxacin may interact with other drugs, such as antacids, certain antidepressants, and medications that affect liver enzymes. Consult your healthcare provider for a full list of potential drug interactions to avoid adverse effects.
  • Storage: Store CIPROX–500 tablets at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep them out of reach of children and do not use the medication if it is past its expiration date or if the tablets are discolored or damaged.
  • Dosage Adherence: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and treatment duration. Do not stop taking the medication early, even if you feel better, to ensure that the infection is completely eradicated and to prevent the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
